My First FIB

The FIB Nova NanoLab-200, which has accompanied me for 15 years, is finally officially retired. This is the first in-house analytical instrument in the history of WINTECH NANO. Full of memories.

He is my love ride.

His presence ended my three-year career as a "barefoot doctor" who could only rent equipment in the middle of the night, kicked off Sembcorp Nano's rapid development in Singapore, and in 2011 became the largest and most high-end commercial micro-chip analysis laboratory in Southeast Asia. So far, thousands of chip products of the world's top semiconductor companies have experienced his baptism.

His origin is a legend in itself.

Fifteen years ago, when I hit a wall in financing, the words of the FEI Regional General Manager, "Banks and investment institutions can't trust you, I can trust you", made him the only financial leasing equipment in FEI's history, and he was lucky to settle in WINTECH NANO. WINTECH NANO people did not disappoint FEI either, not only did we pay off all our arrears ahead of schedule, but we also increased our purchases year after year, becoming one of FEI's (Thermo Fisher) largest customers for many years in a row. The applications and technical improvements we developed on this device were all fed back to FEI, resulting in the Helios FIB model that FEI had monopolized the world for more than a decade, and laid the foundation for an indestructible partnership between Sembcorp Nano and Thermo Fisher. Today, 15 years later, this story of mutual achievement is still widely known.

And his birthday sounds so "untimely".

2008, the world's worst financial crisis in decades. By mid-2009, nearly all of the dozen or so tech companies on this floor had gone out of business. And he was a fledgling, fearless of difficulties, and helped the company achieve the ageless myth of 3.5 times the annual revenue growth of 2008.

He was full of spirit and made outstanding achievements.

On this device, I successfully developed a full-process solution for 45-28nm chip line modification.

On this device, I successfully broke through the "hard disk nanoscale embedded defect location" technology, became the only person in the world to master this technology at that time, and monopolized the global market for such analysis for many years.

He laid the necessary foundation for WINTECH NANO's strong independent research and development, and contributed to the continued explosive growth of the company's business.

He has appeared numerous times in various interviews. And he has been low-key until 15 years in the narrow space that can only accommodate two operators at the same time, each time the photographer has no way to stay, do not know from which angle to shoot, in order to fully show the majesty of this generation of famous riders, brave and good fighting.

He is old and determined to be thousands of miles.

Even in the mid-to-late WINTECH NANO's new FIB models, he has been contributing a steady stream of capacity output to Sembcorp people in an extremely stable state.

Generations of new WINTECH NANO people have been trained on this equipment and grown into talented technical engineers.

He is my legend, and I wrote about him in the company's 15th anniversary celebration book. He has embodied the ideals and practices of generations of Sembcorp people.

Regarding the whereabouts of this equipment, colleagues have had heated discussions, and even suggested that it be transported to the Suzhou headquarters building and displayed in the exhibition hall. But I take this commemoration very lightly. Technology is always evolving, and we must always look ahead.

The warhorse that once galloped across the frontier has transformed into a perfect unicorn legend. Remembrance is deep in the heart, and the spirit is everlasting. This perfectly reflects WINTECH NANO's deep cultural heritage.
